Qatar launches a new phase with Egypt

Concluded by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a short visit to Egypt on Tuesday a one-day, during which he met the President of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian armed forces, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.

And dealt with the visit, which included an official delegation of 20 members including the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, the latest developments in the region and ways to boost cooperation between Egypt and Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar's keenness to support the Egyptian country cooperation in many fields, "in light of the special relationship that combines the two brotherly peoples."

The Prince congratulated the Egyptian leadership to the success of the revolution. The visit comes after years of diplomatic chill amid expectations of a strengthening of bilateral relations. The coming days will witness the formation of a joint committee to prepare a vision to open a new page in relations, including the establishment of joint economic projects, in addition to another file, a reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The Director of Al Jazeera's bureau in Cairo, Abdel Fattah Fayed that Qatar was ready to pump large investments in the Egyptian economy, with the formation of a joint committee between the two sides would soon make the most important projects that can be invested in Doha.

Also reported that the two sides discussed how Qatar's contribution to the reconstruction of Gaza and cooperation with Egypt, which will open the Rafah crossing next week, where Palestinian reconciliation create the conditions for launching reconstruction projects.

The visit comes in the wake of Sheikh Hamad's visit, Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to Doha in the context of a Gulf tour which also included Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
