Moussa calls for postponement of legislative elections

Proposed presidential candidate Amr Moussa to postpone the Egyptian legislative elections and "start the process of democratic election of a constituent assembly to draft a new constitution or holding of presidential elections."

Moussa said on the sidelines of a conference on the new constitution, "not with the delay of the democratic process that I think it should start before the end of this year, but I think it is too early legislative elections in September."

The ruling military junta since the overthrow Mubarak on February 11 last, has recently issued a declaration of a constitutional requirement that the People's Assembly elected in September next to choose a constituent assembly to prepare a draft new constitution.

Moussa made the remarks on the sidelines of the conference on "national reconciliation", organized by Yahya Jamal Deputy Prime Minister and attended its inaugural Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.

The aim of the conference, said sentences to "put constitutional principles to guide the constituent body to be elected from the parliament."

The Muslim Brotherhood has rejected an invitation to attend this conference, and considered Kiedyoha statements published in the press on Saturday that the new constitution, the responsibility of the Constituent Assembly elected by the parliament after its formation.

He also said "This is the home of the risk for the new constitution" and stressed that "the constitution is a document of national authorities and governing relationships in the community free from partisan conflict and to see a specific team party at a specific time."
